Most of our Tacoma memory-care inquiries come from families whose loved one was recently diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's, often after a discharge from MultiCare Tacoma General, St. Joseph Medical Center, or MultiCare Allenmore — and from adult children driving in from across Pierce County (Federal Way, University Place, Lakewood, Spanaway, Puyallup, Gig Harbor) to walk through care options.
What makes Harbor View different in the Tacoma memory-care market: six residents per home, both homes within 6 minutes of each other in NE Tacoma and East Tacoma. The same caregivers see your loved one every day, which matters for dementia care because consistency reduces confusion and agitation. We do not use restraints. We coordinate dementia-appropriate routines around each resident's baseline — meals at the times they're used to, music they recognize, sleep patterns we don't disrupt. Julia, our lead CNA with 15+ years of adult family home experience, is the consistent point of contact for every visiting clinician.
Tour either home on a weekday afternoon or weekend morning. Most Tacoma families visit both homes on the same trip. Call to ask about specific care needs or schedule a tour.
Harbor View provides memory care at two licensed Tacoma adult family homes — Harbor View AFH at 5401 Norpoint Way NE in Northeast Tacoma, and Rainier Vista Farm AFH at 615 66th Ave E in East Tacoma. Both serve families across Tacoma and Pierce County, including the North End, Browns Point, Fife, University Place, and Federal Way. Each home cares for a maximum of six residents, so a person living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia gets consistent caregivers who learn their routines, triggers, and preferences.
In a 6-resident home the same caregivers are present every day — there is no rotating floor staff. For memory loss, that consistency reduces confusion and agitation. Harbor View’s memory care includes a fall-aware living space, medication oversight by a licensed CNA, dementia-appropriate daily routines, and home-cooked meals. Tour either Tacoma home to see the setting before deciding.
